I'm taking a cue this afternoon from the Take Back 19 blog, which is going through some time to review what and where the 19th congressional district is.
It's a basic question, but one I haven't addressed, so here goes: Where is the 24th District? Here's the map, showing how the 24th District stretches from Geneva and Western Tompkins County clear over to Herkimer in the Adirondacks.
Major municipal centers: Utica, Auburn and Cortland.
Strongest concentration of progressive politics: Tompkins County - though Ithaca itself is cut out of our district, and brought over to Maurice Hinchey's district, which twists all the way over to Poughkeepsie. Gerrymandering creates some darkly compelling shapes, doesn't it?

"Now Kids, the letter of the day today is "J" ".
I think they were getting way to into their alphabet soup when they made this one.
I think they gave us the "Flying Fickle Finger of Fate" district.
