It sounds like a fun way to spend the afternoon: Les Roberts will be appearing with Al Franken as part of the broadcast of Franken's Air America nationwide radio broadcast this week. The event is at Ithaca College at Emerson Hall this Wednesday (April 26th), at 1:30 PM.
It's free to attend, and the general public is welcome. See Al Franken and get involved in local politics at the same time.
Al Franken will be interviewing Les live from Ithaca College during his broadcast from Emerson Hall Wednesday, April 26 @ 1:30. Tickets are free and open to the public.
For those of us who can't just skip off in the middle of the day to watch a live radio broadcast, there's the Air America radio broadcast. For residents from Auburn and Cortland over to the western part of the District around Cayuga Lake, it will be broadcast on AM 1470 - WNYY.

I called Cayuga Radio this morning, and there are no seats left. So you'll just have to listen in your car. . . .
I guess the people who wrote in recently saying Les is not getting national media were a bit off.
Take Back 24 - Since you seem to have better information - Do you know if Mike Arcuri is being interviewed by Franken?
Thank you.
Gee, where are all those people from Arcuri's campaign saying that Les Roberts isn't getting enough press now?
Is a nationwide broadcast targeted to Democrats not enough press?
Why can't Arcuri get that kind of coverage?
'cause Arcuri only has local standing. That's not enough
Standing room only audience?
Sounds like pretty good campaigning to me. Les Roberts has the kind of stature that money cannot buy.
Well, no I think Al Franken has that drawing power.
Uh huh. And Al Franken chose Les Roberts, not Michael Arcuri.
Well, then that's bad form that Air America doesn't invite Arcuri. I'm sure it was a stick it to the DA because of Emmanuel's comment to Bloomberg
Franken doesn't have to invite everybody to his program. I want a Democrat to represent the 24th! If this brings money and support to this race and further exposes the evil in Washington, maybe helps SAVE A FEW LIVES, good on Les Roberts!!
Hate to break it to you but Progressives aren't going to win this race. That is because most of the democrats in this district are simply middle class and working poor; they are too tired to be active in politics. Most of the democrats in the 24th are more concerned with their own issues and they cannot relate to studies done by academics. What they can relate to is jobs are being trashed, utilities are too high, everthing is going up except wages. What they are interested in at this point is improving their chances of survival beyond falling into poverty. They aren't all in the luxurious position of posting on blogs all day like we are. They are not all in the position to worry about statistics in Iraq. What most of them are worried about is their taxes and the way their disposible income is being removed systematically. They are worried about getting health care they can afford.I listened to him on airamerica and he was over the heads of a huge percentage of the people of this district, particularly the seniors and the low middle income group, and that is the group that is fed up. Rich people don't care because they are still doing fine. So far. Les Roberts' pitch was great for a college lecture though. He never even got a chance to discuss his platform because Al was interested in his studies. That was readily apparent. The rest was "Well good luck to you". I am sure Les Roberts is very good at what he does. I am sure he would make a great CDC director. But he is as professorial as they come. Beyond that Les Roberts is going to have a communication problem with "regular people"--the same problem John Kerry had.
Arcuri has no presence in the southwestern end of the district. I doubt whether his handlers even knew Franken was coming to Ithaca. It's not Franken's fault if they didn't contact his producers. And the people on Franken's show today, maybe with the exception of Ithaca's mayor, all had at least some kind of local AND national standing--books, studies, or something that resonated outside our tiny snippet of Central NY.
3:24 - perhaps you forget that Daniel Patrick Moynihan was very professorial and the Democrats in NY elected him overwhelmingly along with a good number of Republicans and Independents.
In fact I'd argue that Bush has made it perfectly clear that voting for someone with no intellectual capacity is self defeating for the voter. The average Democrat is sick and tired of uneducated idiots running their government.
Educated, yes. Petulant and boorish, no.
