Sherwood Boehlert Retires

Every major political blog is writing about it today. Sherwood Boehlert is retiring. Taegan Goddard's Political Wire sums up the political implications as follows: "Boehlert’s central New York district is certain to become a top target for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and may also be the site of a nasty GOP primary fight."

Sherwood Boehlert told a crowd of his supporters, "It’s time. I have worked long and hard and, I think, effectively. Now I want to do some other things.” Apparently, Boehlert wants to work short, soft, and ineffectively?

Early political maneuvering from Republican insiders appears to be for Ray Meier, but don't expect political challengers to go down without a fight.
